A chimney is a very efficient conduit to remove hot air from the home. It allows one to enjoy an open fire without being overwhelmed by smoke and fumes.
But when the fire is out, the chimney doesn’t stop working. It continues to remove warm air from the home at an astonishing rate, creating uncomfortable draughts and wasting expensive central heating fuel.
In British homes a bespoke solution is normally required. I have over twenty years experience in the field, and have made many homes more comfortable and fuel efficient by making and installing made to measure chimney dampers. Depending on client’s preference, chimney/fireplace construction and access, the damper may be installed either at the top of the chimneystack or just above the fireplace lintol.
I am based near Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, but send dampers out throughout the U.K. for installation by homeowners/builders. A consultation/measuring and installation service is also available by arrangement, and subject to availability. I do require safe access to the chimney top to survey for stack top dampers.
I apologise for the current “bare bones” look of this site! Please bear with me as I try to rebuild it – I lost a lot of material when my old site crashed, and I’m not much of an I.T. wizard. Do drop me an email if you have any questions about dampers.
